Do you need a visa for moving to Germany?
If a citizen of the EU/EEA/EFTA is moving to Germany for short stays he/she doesn’t need a visa. The spouse or a child of a national of the EU/EEA/EFTA moving to Germany does not also require a visa for short stays. People holding British Passports of certain type do not also need a visa.
The citizens of UK/EU citizens moving to Germany looking for work should possess a passport of 10 years’ validity; they do not need a visa for up to three months to look for employment (including self-employment).
What is required to be done if your moving to Germany involves a longer stay?
After moving to Germany, you have to register within a week of your finding a permanent residence at the Einwohnermeldeamt which is the office for residence registration. After this, you must apply for a residence permit, even if you are an EU citizen.
Citizens of the EU member countries and Norway and Iceland, moving to Germany, do not need a work permit to work in Germany. The above residence permit is enough for an EU citizen to take up employment in Germany.
